The Union Impact

In Uncategorized on March 1, 2009 at 2:38 am

“Although workers’ unions arose out of a general concern with poor working conditions and depressed wages, they have done remarkably little to advance the cause of the average worker during the last several decades. Union supporters would argue that this is due to the fact that unions represent a rapidly declining percent of the total workforce and that the political climate has been strongly hostile” (Joseph V. Kennedy).

If America’s unions lose their influence in essentially forcing the government to better support the interests of the impoverished, who can the American poor depend on to best support them? The importance of unions can be noticed in its name—UNION! Power comes in numbers and with increased influence of unions in the future; I believe it will be impossible to not create policies that better aid the poor!
